With a seminar on Controlling and Monitoring Emissions on Waste Management Sites to kick-start the second morning of AQE, Zoe Cooper, business development director, Energy & Waste, ESG, is the ideal person to report back on her day representing ESG on the stand.
First and foremost, the Gala Dinner for exhibitors was a great way to spend the evening after a busy first day at the exhibition yesterday. We had the pleasure of attending where we enjoyed a great meal with great company. The evening itself provided a fantastic opportunity to network outside of the exhibition and discuss the services ESG offers over a drink or two.
A topical morning
Throughout the morning, some presentations covered topics such as ‘maintenance of bio filters for effective odour mitigation’ and ‘legal obligations as a site operator in respect to emissions control and odour monitoring’ – a good starting point for us to demonstrate to visitors how we can provide air quality solutions.
We had a lot of visitors to our stand, where I was able to discuss ESG’s broad range of analysis services, including organics testing for dioxins, furans & WHO 12 PCBs, BTEX testing, trace components in landfill gas and volatile organic compound analysis.
Especially in an exhibition hall, it is really important to stand out from the crowd. With our UKAS accreditations for carrying out Dioxin, Furan and PCB analysis on stack gas samples and for our Dust & Air Quality services (to name just a few), we had plenty to discuss. The complex analysis required for high resolution dioxin/furan work mean we are one of only a handful of laboratories that are capable of carrying out this highly challenging work.
As well as taking adsorbent tube samples, we help organisations record real-time measurements of carbon monoxide, sulphur dioxide, ozone and oxides of nitrogen levels in their emissions, using advanced air testing kits and ensure that their environmental impact remains below legal limits – exactly what one of the speakers was talking about in their presentation today.
A two-day success
Talking with others who have an interest, passion and commitment to controlling air quality emissions made the day really valuable. It gave us great scope to talk about all we do, provide advice and guidance on hot topics in the industry, and we’ll be finishing the two-day event on a high.
